Claude Duet Pricing and Alternatives: What it is and How it Works

Claude Duet is Anthropic’s proactive AI agent app, launched in research preview on October 21, 2026. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5, connects to your apps, sends a daily briefing, and works in the background on its own cloud computer. Access is currently by waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States.

Quick answers

  • What is it? A standalone Anthropic app in which Claude acts as an active agent rather than waiting for prompts.
  • Who made it? Anthropic, the company behind Claude.
  • What model powers it? Claude Opus 5.5.
  • Who can use it? US-based Claude Pro and Max subscribers, via waitlist, during the research preview. Enterprise customers were not included at launch.
  • Who is it built for? Professionals and small business owners with more to track than they can handle.
  • Does it cost extra? Reports say it draws on your existing Claude plan limits, and background checks count toward them.
  • Who does Claude Duet compete with? Claude Duet competes with Meta Muse, Grok Bot, and OpenAI Dots.

What is Claude Duet?

Claude Duet is an app that brings Claude to you. Rather than opening a chat window and typing a prompt, you message Duet via text or voice in a single continuous thread. It sends a morning rundown of what matters, monitors your connected apps throughout the day, and pings you only when a decision is yours.

Anthropic positions it against Meta’s Muse agent and OpenAI’s Dots agent, which makes the launch part of a wider shift from chatbots that answer questions to agents that perform tasks.

How does Claude Duet work?

It runs on its own virtual machine. Duet has a cloud-based computer with its own browser, so it can finish tasks without your laptop or phone staying on.

It reuses your Claude setup. Memory, skills, and connected apps carry over from your Claude account, so setup is light. At launch, reporting indicates Duet supports more than 6,000 connectors and plugins through the Claude Marketplace.

It uses Opus 5.5 for judgment. Anthropic chose its latest model to determine how urgent something is and when to contact or request approval.

It asks before sensitive actions. Approvals run through the same auto-mode classifier that Anthropic uses in Claude Code and Claude in Chrome, which separates actions that can run freely from those held for your sign-off.

Is Claude Duet safe? How does it manage passwords?

Anthropic says Duet never directly sees your passwords or sign-in tokens. Credentials are input in a separate form on your phone. A dedicated classifier and safety system prompt check each message to guard against leaks of sensitive information, and you can disconnect apps at any time.

Where does Claude Duet fall short today?

  • Limited access. US-only, waitlisted, Pro and Max only.
  • No Enterprise at launch. Teams that need admin controls, auditability, and governance across company systems are not the target yet.
  • Plan limits apply. Background monitoring consumes your usage allowance.
  • Personal scope. Duet works from the apps one person connects. It is not built to be a shared, permissions-aware layer across a whole company’s knowledge.

What Claude Duet means for enterprise teams, and where GoSearch fits

Duet shows where the market is heading: agents that act proactively, not just answer. Employees will bring that expectation to work. The hard part for IT and business operations leaders is that a personal agent only sees what one person connects, and a company needs agents that respect who is allowed to see what.

That is the gap GoSearch addresses. GoSearch is an enterprise AI platform built on the idea that search is the floor and agents are the ceiling: reliable retrieval across company knowledge first, then agents and agentic workflows on top.

What enterprise teams look for beyond a personal agent:

  • Permissions-aware federated retrieval. Agents should only surface content the requesting employee is already allowed to access.
  • 100+ connectors. GoSearch connects to the enterprise tools where work actually lives, making it easy to access enterprise resources.
  • Model-agnostic architecture. Teams can use the best model for each job, including Claude, without rebuilding their knowledge layer.
  • Fast implementation and responsive support. GoSearch is known for quick rollouts and a very responsive, high-quality support team.

The two are complementary. Duet points to a future of proactive personal agents, and GoSearch gives organizations the governed, company-wide knowledge foundation those agents need to be useful and safe at work.
