Q&A with Sharad Verma
Can you tell us about your journey with AI and your professional background?
Sharad Verma: My career started when I moved to the U.S. around 25 years ago, setting my roots as a machine learning engineer. Back then, we had to manually tune weights and meticulously adjust features to build predictive models—a challenging and rewarding process. In the ensuing years, I transitioned to product management, which allowed me to work on consumer products like Yahoo search and build several enterprise solutions.
Entrepreneurship called to me about a decade ago, with ventures like BoostUp for sales intelligence and my latest, Vidoso, which focuses on video AI. I’m passionate about spending time with my family, which helps me balance the demanding life of a founder. Whether skiing in the winter or hiking during the summer, these family activities recharge me and inspire my professional pursuits.
How do you perceive the evolution and advancements in AI?
Sharad Verma: We are in what I call the ‘age of intelligence.’ AI has come a long way from the manual, labor-intensive machine learning tasks of the past to today’s advanced autonomous systems capable of making complex decisions. This evolution involved significant milestones, like the development of neural networks in the early 2010s, which allowed us to process massive datasets more efficiently.
“We are in the ‘age of intelligence,’ where AI has evolved from manual tasks to advanced systems capable of autonomous decision-making, driving innovation across industries.”
— Sharad Verma, CEO of Vidoso
Today, we’re seeing the rise of generative AI and reasoning models that can break down complex problems into manageable parts, evolving toward autonomous task execution. This transformation is remarkable, as AI agents are starting to perform real-world applications, enabling industrialization through effective task execution. The future promises even more exciting advancements as these agents, with sufficient context, drive innovation and efficiency across industries.
Can you explain Vidoso’s AI vision and its role in modern AI?
Sharad Verma: Vidoso is designed to empower marketing teams by turning raw video content into polished, ready-to-use clips. The platform’s ability to semantically and visually understand video content is a game-changer, facilitating efficient video production that aligns with corporate messaging. This democratizes the process, allowing teams to produce high-quality video content with minimal effort.
Our goal is to offer an ‘AI creative producer’ that automates creative decisions, applying brand assets to enhance video content without manual intervention. This would relieve the pressure on marketing teams, allowing them to focus on strategic planning while the AI manages creative tasks. Our vision is to redefine how businesses use video, pushing for a future where high-quality content is streamlined and accessible to all.
How is AI adoption being perceived and integrated within enterprises?
Sharad Verma: Enterprises are gradually embracing AI, not just as a tool but as an integral component of their operations. Leaders at companies like Shopify are advocating for an AI-first approach, which involves creating an environment where AI usage is seamlessly integrated into daily activities. This shift requires a blend of mandate and cultural acceptance, where innovative uses of AI are recognized and rewarded.
In practice, AI serves as a thought partner, enhancing brainstorming sessions and aiding in co-creation rather than replacing human input. By embedding AI in our operational fabric, we can improve productivity, drive innovation, and ensure that AI’s full potential is realized without losing the human touch that fosters creativity and critical thinking.
What are your thoughts on ethical AI and the implementation of guardrails?
Sharad Verma: The ethical use of AI is paramount. Implementing robust guardrails ensures AI’s operations align with a company’s values and security protocols. These guardrails help build trust, ensuring the AI behaves predictably and ethically across different use cases.
“Ethically aligned AI implementation with robust guardrails is crucial for trust, ensuring predictable and responsible AI operations in enterprise contexts.”
— Sharad Verma, CEO of Vidoso
We need manual oversight during the early deployment phases to capture practical insights, which can adapt guardrails over time. Embedding ethical considerations from the ground up allows enterprises to create systems that offer reliable and consistent results while aligning with organizational standards and societal expectations.
How is AI impacting search engine optimization and brand discoverability?
Sharad Verma: AI has significantly altered the dynamics of search engine optimization and brand discoverability. Instead of relying on traditional SEO tactics to climb search rankings, it’s now about authentically addressing potential buyers’ queries. AI’s ability to generate comprehensive overviews means that brands should focus on producing quality content that resonates with real consumer queries.
As users look increasingly to AI-assisted platforms for solutions, brands must anticipate these queries and reflect that understanding in their content strategy. Fostering a genuine connection through valuable content ensures AI-generated summaries that boost brand reputation and visibility.”
Value of Enterprise Search in the Agentic Revolution
As we enter the agentic revolution, where AI agents and humans work side by side, access to enterprise knowledge has never been more critical. AI-powered search tools like GoSearch are pivotal in this transformation by indexing and democratizing knowledge across an organization.
By enabling seamless access to the right information at the right time, enterprise search enhances human-agent collaboration, allowing AI models to retrieve, interpret, and apply enterprise data more accurately. As model context protocols evolve, AI agents will gain the ability to standardize context sharing, ensuring they deliver precise insights and execute tasks with efficiency.
“The ongoing transition to an agentic revolution places immense importance on speedy and efficient access to enterprise knowledge.”
— Sharad Verma, CEO of Vidoso
In this new era, enterprise search is not just about finding information—it’s about enabling AI to work smarter, helping businesses drive innovation, and scaling knowledge like never before.
Conclusion
Sharad Verma underscores AI’s pivotal role in shaping future enterprises in this illuminating discussion. With its vast potential, AI offers capabilities that enhance human productivity and drive technological innovation.
Through ethically aligned AI integration and advanced enterprise search solutions, businesses can harness AI to achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency and creativity. As we navigate this exciting frontier, embracing AI’s transformative power will be key to unlocking future possibilities.
